We're home to two universities - the University of Kansas and Haskell Indian Nations University - with easy access to nature and a thriving Downtown shopping and dining district. Throughout the city, you'll find history, art, live music, sports, entertainment, and more to occupy your free time when you're not cheering on Algeria during the games!

Getting Around

Kansas City to Lawrence

Getting to Lawrence from Kansas City has never been easier! ConnectKC26 is your tournament bus service for the FIFA World Cup 26™, designed to move fans and residents across the region with comfort and ease. The motorcoach service connects you directly to directly to the FIFA Fan Festival, Kansas City Stadium (Arrowhead), Kansas City International Airport (MCI), and even Lawrence, all tournament long. Lawrence Transit, in partnership with Explore Lawrence, is providing extended transit service on Kansas City match days during the World Cup. Look for the Score Lawrence route in the Transit app and Google Maps.

On match days, service between downtown Lawrence and Central Station will run from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. There will be no lobby access at Central Station during the extended hours.

The Score Lawrence route is available on these dates:

  • Tuesday, June 16
  • Saturday, June 20
  • Thursday, June 25
  • Saturday, June 27
  • Friday, July 3
  • Saturday, July 11

Downtown parking rates and procedures remain the same. Download apps for parking downtown at https://lawrenceks.gov/ezpark.

KU will offer fan shuttle parking with bus service to Central Station from June 11 to July 13. Riders park in Lot 300 Sections A-D and in Lot 302 and take a shuttle every 15 minutes to Central Station from 9:45 a.m.-1 a.m. Dates and times of this service are subject to change based on demand. A $10 vehicle fee is payable via the HONK app.

KU will have an overnight parking restriction in all areas during the summer, and KU permits will be required for green zones. More information about parking adjustments on the Lawrence campus is available at https://soccersummer2026.ku.edu/impacts-our-campuses.

Transportation in Lawrence

The Lawrence Transit System is offered through a partnership between the City of Lawrence and the University of Kansas. Lawrence Transit System and KU on Wheels provide safe, convenient, affordable, reliable and responsive public transportation. Learn about routes, schedules, fares and more here. Uber and Lyft are popular rideshare services in the area.

Parking

Park your car and you won't have to walk far to find lots of fun in Lawrence!

Downtown Lawrence

Our iconic downtown district has plenty of easily accessible parking. Massachusetts Street has coin-operated Metered Parking at curbside.

There are 2-Hour-Free and 10-Hour-Meter covered parking garages within a block of Massachusetts Street. These accept cash or credit cards.

  • Vermont Street (west of Massachusetts Street) between 7th and 8th Streets
  • New Hampshire Street (east of Massachusetts Street) between 9th and 10th Streets

2-Hour-Free, 2-Hour-Meter, and 10-Hour-Meter (coin-operated and mobile app) parking are available along Vermont, New Hampshire, and Rhode Island, between 6th and 12th Streets.

University of Kansas

Driving on campus is restricted during the weekdays until 5 p.m.

You should expect to pay for parking on campus on weekdays.

There is paid, hourly Visitor Parking available at the Allen Fieldhouse Garage and north of Kansas Memorial Union in the Mississippi Street Garage. Also some lots have meters that accept coin payment and some long-term meters are also equipped to accept payments by mobile phone using Parkmobile.
