Lawrence, Kansas

Most famously the home of the University of Kansas, Lawrence is also the location of Haskell Indian Nations University and has long been considered one of the Midwest's most liveable and lovingly-quirky towns. Spend a Saturday afternoon watching the Jayhawks play basketball or football then squeeze in some shopping at one of the town's many independent retailers. Lawrence is also loved for its leading music scene, spirited Civil War history and nearby Clinton Lake State Park, which provides a multitude of outdoor recreation opportunities.
