On May 3rd and 4th, Lawrence area artists are opening their homes and studios to the public, during the Lawrence Art Guild’s 3rd annual Art Spaces. Forty-five artists at twenty-one locations will be available to show their work and to visit with the public. Maps are available at Art Emergency, 721 E. 9th Street, during the event, or online at Lawrenceartguild.org.
The public is encouraged to choose artists to visit over the course of the weekend. Each Art Spaces location presents a unique experience including those that offer demonstrations, displays, hands-on experiences, and viewing finished or unfinished works only found within the artists’ studios. Additionally, artists will have pieces for sale and be available to talk about their inspirations and creative process.

Visitors to Susan Poer’s studio will have the opportunity to “flex their creative muscles” with hands-on experiences. Amy Gray will feature a display of how she creates her colorful epoxy-resin pieces.

Tom and Chris North’s home will showcase both Chris’s studio where she hand-builds ceramic sculptures as well as a display of Tom’s photography equipment, including his copy stand set-up and his large format camera. Tom works in platinum/palladium printing, creating one-of-a-kind photographic prints on cotton paper with a liquid emulsion made by hand.

Visitors to Art Emergency will have the opportunity to talk with painters, jewelry artists, fiber artists and more.
