They don’t call it Rocktober for nothing! This month is just filled to the gills with shows for everyone. You want bluegrass? Psych rock? An electrifying production about the queen of rock and roll? We’ve got it all here in Lawrence for October. Here’s a look at the diverse range of acts for October, and don’t forget to scroll down to the bottom for more events to keep on your radar.

Noah Reid
Liberty Hall | October 4
If Noah Reid looks familiar, then you’re probably a fan of the TV show “Schitt’s Creek,” where he plays David’s love interest on the show. Outside of film, Reid is a musician with an impressive discography and even some accolades, receiving a Canadian Screen Award Nomination for Best Original Song in 2016. His Liberty Hall stop is part of his Fall tour across the U.S.
RIYL: Marcus Mumford, Brandi Carlile, Amos Lee

Molly Tuttle
Liberty Hall | October 11
This is going to be one of the hottest tickets in town for the month. Molly Tuttle is a grammy-nominated artist who is well-loved in Lawrence, having made her way from the Bottleneck to Kaw River Roots Fest and now landing a headlining gig at Liberty Hal. The bluegrass musician is known for her banjo, clawhammer, and songwriting skills and was the first woman to ever receive the International Bluegrass Association’s Guitar Player of the Year Award. Word has it that she now exclusively tours with an all-female band.
RIYL: Margo Price, The Local Honeys, Gilian Welch

Mirador
The Granada | October 13
The last time I saw Mirador, they were opening for Greta Van Fleet and the fans made sure to show up early for their set. That’s because the band is founded by Jake Kiszka, one of the brothers behind Greta Van Fleet, as well as Ida Mae’s Chris Turpin. This is a very fun band for fans of rock and roll. The band’s music is full of nostalgic touches and psych rock vibes, and one of the rare moments where backstage jam sessions turned into something tangible. Go to this show if you enjoy watching musicians who really know how to play guitar.
RIYL: Greta Van Fleet, The Raconteurs, Led Zeppelin

Tina Turner the Musical
The Lied Center | October 14
This month The Lied Center is bringing the unbelievable story of one of music’s most famous women in the industry. Dubbed “The triumphant story of the queen of rock and roll,” Tina Turner the Musical has gotten rave reviews for its electrifying production. This specific production comes with a note: it’s recommended for viewers over the age of 14 as it depicts racism, violence, and uses strobe lights and “rock concert sound levels.”

6arelyhuman
The Bottleneck | October 21
This one’s for you, Club Kids. 6arelyhuman has been making waves online for their EDM shows, providing high energy vibes after gaining notoriety across TikTok. If you’ve been around anyone between the ages of 15 and 25, this show is probably all you’ve heard about from them. Expect the best dancers and craziest outfits you’ve ever seen at this show.
RIYL: Queer Culture and loud beats
