There's something special about wandering through South Park during the city’s oldest running art festival. Music drifts from the gazebo, artists chat with visitors about their work, and every turn reveals another booth filled with original, handmade pieces of art. It's an experience that has become a Lawrence tradition for more than six decades.

The Lawrence Art Guild's Art in the Park returns to South Park on September 19–20, transforming one of downtown Lawrence's most beautiful green spaces into a vibrant outdoor gallery featuring more than 125 juried artists from across the region. Admission is free, making it one of the city's signature fall events for locals and visitors alike.
While the artwork is the centerpiece, the festival offers much more than shopping. Visitors can spend the day discovering emerging and established artists, listening to live music throughout the park, enjoying food from local vendors, and exploring hands-on activities designed for young creators. Whether you're searching for a statement piece for your home, a one-of-a-kind gift, or simply looking for an enjoyable afternoon outdoors, Art in the Park invites you to slow down and experience Lawrence's creative spirit.

Located on Massachusetts Street, the festival is also the perfect starting point for a weekend in Lawrence. After browsing the artist booths, continue your day by exploring downtown's locally owned shops, coffee shops, and restaurants, all within easy walking distance of South Park. It's an opportunity to experience not only exceptional art, but the welcoming community that makes Lawrence a destination for creativity year-round.

Whether you're a dedicated art collector or simply enjoy discovering something unexpected, Art in the Park offers a chance to meet artists, hear the stories behind their work, and take home a piece that is hard to find anywhere else. It's a celebration of creativity, community, and the unique character that defines Lawrence.

Art in the Park takes place Saturday, September 19, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday, September 20, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at South Park, 1141 Massachusetts Street in downtown Lawrence.
