THE TOY STORE
What it’s known for: Champions of timeless, interactive, educational entertainment.
Why he loves it: The folks at the Toy Store carefully curate a collection of classic gifts and the latest products that challenge and delight children (as well as the adults who accompany them).

DOWNTOWN LAWRENCE GALLERIES
What it’s known for: Lawrence’s downtown, with its boutiques and restaurants, is always a rewarding spot for an extended stroll.
Why he loves it: One of the key attractions is the area’s galleries, such as the quirky Wonder Fair Gallery and the upscale Phoenix Gallery.
Insider Tip: Visit in the evening on the final Friday of each month when the galleries throw special events for the monthly art walk.
WAXMAN CANDLES

TRANSFORM-ATIONS
For nearly a decade, men and women of Lawrence have taken the stage in drag queen personas to create an original talent show with high stakes, a $10,000 cash prize for a designated Lawrence charity. Tickets for the January event go quickly, so plan your trip and order well in advance.

THEATRE LAWRENCE SHOWS
Running from September–June, Theatre Lawrence’s season of shows brings a range of comedies, dramas and musicals from a community able to tap the best of professional and amateur acting talent. Summer boasts stage attractions as well, including performances by the Lawrence Opera Theatre and more.
